- Structural pest control work is governed exclusively by the Structural Pest Control Commission's rules, which prevail over conflicting rules of other agenciesLa. R.S. 3:3366 (C)
The general pest record
Each general pest or commercial vertebrate application record gives the place of business name, address and permit number, the primary licensee's name, address and department I.D. number, the customer's name and address, the location, each product's brand name and EPA number, whether it is restricted or general use, the date and time, the pest treated and type of application, the mixture concentration in percent, and the applicator's department I.D. number. Restricted use products add the total amount and area treated.
Termite and bait system records
Termite records add the type of application (pre-treat, post or spot), the area in square or linear feet, the total product per location, the contract, the inspection date and time, and any waiver or wood destroying insect report. Bait systems log the perimeter, every station installed, inspected or replaced, who inspected, a diagram and the contract.
Keeping and reporting
Keep records at the address on your place of business permit: three years after the application for general pest work, or three years after the contract expires for termite control. The department can ask for copies within 48 hours. Report every termite contract, perimeter application and wood destroying insect report on the department's form by the tenth of the next month.
Wood destroying insect reports
The LPCA-143 report is only for a sale or refinance and is issued by a termite control licensee or a certified WDIR technician under one. It guarantees free treatment if live subterranean termites covered by the report turn up in an accessible area within 90 days of the inspection, and no one may promise more than that. The commission's rules govern structural pest control work exclusively.
From the truck to a finished Louisiana record
Note the time, each product's concentration and whether it is restricted use, what you treated and how, and the square or linear footage on termite jobs. ReportDraft fills the Louisiana record for the phase you worked and keeps it ready for the monthly report.
Common mistakes
- Leaving off the primary licensee's department I.D. number.
- No mixture concentration percent.
- A termite record without the linear feet treated.
- Missing the monthly termite contract and WDIR report by the 10th.
- Promising termite coverage beyond the WDIR's 90 days.
